I joined TU Clausthal in 2011 as a postdoctural researcher.
In 2022 I defended my habilitation thesis "Computationally intensive, distributed and decentralised machine learning: from theory to applications".
Since 2021 November, I have been working as principal investigator in "ML-PRE: Machine Learning for Explainable Roundtrip Polymer Reaction Engineering" project.
This project is funded by the DFG (German Research foundation) programm (SPP) 2331 "Machine Learning in Chemical Engineering".
Prior to that I worked 3 years at TU Riga.
I had completed my Ph.D. from the Transport and Telecommunication Institute (Riga, Latvia) in 2006.
I have authored or co-authored about 45 peer-reviewed publications in conference proceedings and journals on topics like deep learning, explainable AI, computational statistics, distributed machine learning, big data analysis, and multi-agent decision making.
I apply machine learning and artificial intelligence methods for various domains: chemistry, bioinformatics, transportation, logistics.
I conducted post-doctoral research in a number of funded scientific projects in Germany and Latvia.
I have considerable teaching and practical experience. I supervised various bachelor and master thesis in machine learning, data analysis and simulation areas.
I have worked as an EU expert in machine learning and data analysis in several EU Commission programmes
